Reblogged this on hitchens67 Atheism WOW!! Campaign and commented:
Happy Birthday Stephen!
Stephen Hawking is expressing the Christian values and worldview that made modern science possible in the first place.
When was values and morals exclusive to Christians? So you must be a believer to practice this values? There might also be things like Muslim values or Mormon Values or Hindu values and some of these values might be the same as your “Christian” values. What makes your “Christian” values superior to any other “religious” values and “atheist” values? Values and morals are independent of religions.
Hawking grew up in the Christian West.
He is simply parroting the Christian values he learned during his life and times in the West.
But you did not answer my question, are values and moral inseparable from religion?
Natural Law has been know for thousands of years.
It is objective and secular.
But atheists reject Natural Law.
Consequently, for the atheist there are no values or ethics that are anything more than personal opinion or parroting the values of the culture where the atheist was born and raised.
